Ealing Broadway needs a bus station or at least a convenient purpose-designed interchange.
Hammersmith got a bus station in the 1970s when the island site round the District & Piccadilly Line station was re-developed. This included a shopping arcade beside the District line with a bus station on top.
Ealing has an opportunity with the rebuilding of the station for Crossrail. EFOE has joined with Save Ealing's Centre to push for a bus station over the London Underground platforms which is large enough for all the buses which use Haven Green. We would accept another location as long as it is:
convenient for passengers
doesn't involve them crossing a busy road
doesn't expose them to the weather
The current situation in Haven Green is that there are 22 spaces marked on the road for buses. This is made up of 1 pick up place, 6 standing places and 15 places for a mixture of set down, pick up and stand. Buses starting off in the same direction do not all pick up from the same stop causing frustration for passengers. Finally, to get from the station to some of the bus stops can take a long time, be unpleasant in the rain and involve crossing a busy road.
