The Climate Change Law - we did it!

I'm sure you already know that Parliament voted on 28 October for the world-beating legislation after a long campaign by Friends of the Earth. The first of its kind in the world, the Law is a huge step in the fight against climate change.

The Law commits the Government to 80 per cent cuts in the UK's emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050, including emissions from aviation and shipping, and with annual targets along the way to keep us on track – all the things that were part of the Big Ask.

Like many other FoE groups and indeed many other organisations in the Stop Climate Chaos coalition, EFoE members put in a lot of time and energy on this campaign – meetings, demos, talking to the public, getting signatures on postcards (red, amber and green successively) and contacting MPs by letter and in person. So thanks to everyone who helped.
