Dickens Yard Update

Ealing Council and developers St George West London Ltd have signed a legal agreement that triggers the start of community consultation on the project. (Dickens Yard is the area behind Ealing Town Hall).

St George will be submitting a planning application to Ealing Council in the autumn. As part of that process further statutory consultation will be undertaken.

The current proposals incorporate, among other things: public spaces, with an area suitable for events such as markets and ice skating; 680 high quality homes including affordable homes and homes for key workers; around 25 shops, cafes and restaurants; approximately 10,000 sq metres of commercial space, including around 8,000 sq metres of retail space. Approximately 300 residential car parking spaces and a further 300 public parking spaces are planned. Proposals say there will be an emphasis on sustainable development – with recycling, energy efficient homes, low energy lighting, car club, and a cycle club.

A special Community Planning Weekend, open to anyone to attend, will take place on 22-23 June (actually the Friday and Saturday) at Ealing Town Hall. Times are 2pm – 7.30pm on the Friday, 11am – 4pm on the Saturday. You can drop in for a short while or stay for longer. This will be followed by a series of events looking at key issues, and a feedback session in August.
