Streets for People Sep 2007

Ealing Council (with funding from Transport for London as part of its ‘DIY Planet Repairs’ campaign) is running ‘Streets for People’ travel awareness events in September, in Hanwell and Greenford.

Saturday 15 September, 10am – 2pm in The Broadway, Greenford Town Centre
Contact: For more information e-mail
diyplanetrepairs@ealing.gov.uk or call Syd or Rob in the Transport Planning team on (020) 8825 9430/5853.

Dr Bike will be in attendance so bring your bikes along for a free safety check and adjustments. You can also sign-up for low cost or even free professional on-road cycle training, for yourself and your family.

There will also be another chance to see and comment on proposals for a big upgrade of transport and streetscape in Greenford town centre. If you missed the first exhibition in Greenford Hall on 30 May then now’s your chance to see it again and tell the Council what you think.

Saturday 22 September, 10am – 5pm at Hanwell Clock Tower and Station Road, Hanwell
Contact: as above. Dr Bike will be near the Clock Tower with more safety checks and offers of on-road cycle training for yourself and your family (10am until 2pm).
City Car Club will be there to tell you all about the benefits of joining a car club, just as four new ‘car club’ bays are due to be introduced in Hanwell (10am until 2pm).
There’ll be information on three new ‘Walkability’ schemes to improve the pedestrian environment that are being drawn up for the Hanwell Town Centre and Hanwell Station areas (10am until 2pm).

The Street Party (organised by local residents associations) will include: sustainable transport - Recycle your bicycles! – kids outgrown their trikes and bikes? Bring them along and trade them – please contact Damian on (020) 8840 7132; the Hanwell History Society - learn about the history of the local area, and see pictures of how it used to be; refreshments, stalls and much more!
