Apologies
for not having got a newsletter out since May, but the past months have been
pretty busy. In June we had stalls at the Litten Nature Reserve Open Day,
Hanwell Carnival, the Northolt Green Living Fair and Osterley
Day, and in July we were at the Blondin Park Summer Event and the
Ealing Homes Resident Fun Day.
As
well as the usual FoE literature, we had a couple of activities that proved very
successful with the public. Children especially enjoyed trying to identify the
objects (all natural things such as pine cones and snail shells) hidden in
feelie bags. For adults there was the “Lifestyle Tip Lucky Dip” which offered
ideas for greener living and occasionally a surprise gift appropriate to the
tip: lemons for cleaning, bicarbonate of soda for removing odours from smelly
footwear, camomile tea bags to soothe tired eyes (after the tea has been
drunk).
We
did very little fundraising at these events, but sale of second-hand books at
Hanwell Carnival brought in just over £27.
No more stalls are planned until the Brentford Festival on Sunday 5 September. However, we’ll look for opportunities to promote the Food Chain Campaign.
